More than 18 lakh children under 5 years old in Jammu and Kashmir will receive the oral polio vaccine on National Immunization Day, March 3, at 10,000 booths, with over 10 lakh children in the Kashmir Division alone. According to available information, a total of 18,74,525 children in the Union Territory will be covered under the pulse polio immunization, including 8,06,898 in Jammu districts and 10,67,627 in Kashmir districts. Officials informed Excelsior that 10,799 vaccination booths will be set up for National Immunization Day, with 5,410 in the Jammu region and 5,389 in the Kashmir region. In terms of healthcare workers involved in the immunization process, 42,929 vaccinators will participate across J&K, including 21,360 in Jammu and 21,569 in Kashmir. The Directorate of Family Welfare MCH & Immunization J&K has also appointed 2,169 supervisors for smooth immunization, with 1,077 in Jammu and 1,092 in Kashmir, along with 835 Transit teams. Regarding the availability of the Bivalent Oral Poliovirus Vaccine (BOPV), 23,80,260 doses have been allocated for the entire J&K, with 13,50,360 doses available for Kashmir and 10,30,000 doses for Jammu.
