KUPWARA : Due to heavy rainfall, a major overnight rescue operation was carried out under the supervison of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan in the sub division Handwara which was lead by Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather.
The rescue operation was carried out by Tehsildar Handwara, Zeeshan Khan along with the team of Irrigation & Flood Control Department and SDRF.
Accordingly, one family which was stuck in the flash floods at Magam Pothwari were rescued by the team led by the ADC Handwara.
Later, on receiving SOS from Kawari village where Pohru Nallah had engulfed the village, the Rescue Team evacuated 7 houses and more than 35 souls were rescued through the help of SDRF boats and were shifted to safer places. The whole Administration was on toes and all the affected people were assisted.
Moreover, operation was also carried out at Machipora and Handwara main town where water was overflowing through the teams working on the field overnight.
Meanwhile, the people have expressed their gratitude towards the District Adminsitration Kupwara and Sub division Administration Handwara for carrying out the timely rescue operation which saved the precious lives and the property.
