22-year-old youth from Baghpat to represent India’s compassion, culture and empathy on global stage
Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh | May 24, 2025 — At a time when the world grapples with conflict, inequality, and divisions, the ancient Indian values of peace, compassion and humanity stand as a beacon of hope and inspiration. In a significant development, Aman Kumar, a young leader from the rural district of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, has been selected to carry forward this legacy on the global stage. Aman has been chosen among the top 25 youth leaders from over 1,200 applicants across 22 countries and 250+ universities for the prestigious Satyarthi Summer School 2025—an initiative by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi under the banner of the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion. The month-long residential fellowship will be held in New Delhi and Rajasthan in June, focusing on compassion-driven leadership, coexistence, social justice, and human values.
Participants will engage in intensive learning and dialogue sessions with Kailash Satyarthi himself, as well as with global policymakers and thought leaders. Upon successful completion, Aman will be conferred the honorary title of ‘Global Compassion Ambassador’, empowering him to spread India’s message of empathy and cultural sensitivity across the world.
This achievement marks more than just personal success for Aman—it is a reaffirmation of India’s age-old philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family), now being championed by a new generation on international platforms. Aman said, “In an age dominated by technology and profit, preserving and sharing values like compassion and peace is the greatest need of our time. Coming from a rural background, I am proud to represent India’s rich humanitarian heritage to youth worldwide.”
Currently pursuing Social Work from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Aman is an active member of UNESCO’s Global Youth Community and serves as the President of Udaan Youth Club in Baghpat. He is also an advisor to HundrED (a Finland-based global education innovation organization), an ambassador for the Nature Positive University Program supported by Oxford University, and coordinator of the Climate Cardinals India Chapter.
Among his accolades are the State-level Swami Vivekananda Youth Award by the Uttar Pradesh government, UNICEF India’s Most Valuable U-Reporter Award, the Changing Chox Award by Rishikesh University, and the Empowered Award by Educlouds. Aman was also a special youth guest at the 78th Independence Day celebrations hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Demonstrating his commitment to social causes, Aman has pledged to dedicate a portion of his Swami Vivekananda Youth Award prize money to promote peace and compassion. In an era where global discourse is increasingly focused on technology, artificial intelligence, and competition, Aman’s advocacy for kindness and empathy reflects India’s emergence not only as a technological power but also as a moral and cultural leader.
