Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has assumed the pivotal role in securing the pilgrimage routes and ensuring a peaceful and smooth passage for thousands of pilgrims.

Speaking to the news agency, DIG CRPF North Srinagar Sector, Sudhir Kumar, who is also the Nodal Officer of CRPF Amarnath Yatra 2025, said that the force has taken every possible step to strengthen its deployment, enhance coordination, and integrate technology for real-time response during the Yatra.

“CRPF is fully committed to the safety and service of pilgrims. We have intensified our efforts this year with a focus on minimum inconvenience and maximum protection,” DIG Kumar said. “The Amarnath Yatra is not just another assignment; it is a matter of national service and public faith.”

The CRPF, with its long-established presence in Jammu and Kashmir, is well-acclimatised to the region’s rugged terrain and ever-evolving security threats. This year, the force has reinforced its positions across the Baltal axis and at all major base camps along the route to the cave shrine.

DIG Sudhir Kumar added that CRPF’s Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs), who played a lifesaving role in past pilgrimages, have been placed on high alert and are equipped to deal with any emergencies in the high-altitude zones. “These teams are specially trained and have helped countless yatris in the past. Their readiness is a key part of our response plan,” he said.

The CRPF has also deployed women personnel as part of its humanitarian and people-friendly approach, offering guidance and aid to women pilgrims while ensuring security.

The force’s efforts are further bolstered through joint coordination with J&K Police and other security agencies, said the DIG. “We have improved our intelligence grid, upgraded our surveillance tools, and are operating with precision and synergy,” he noted.

Highlighting the CRPF’s broader role, Kumar said, “Wherever the nation needs us, the CRPF is always ready. Whether it’s law and order, internal security, or disaster relief, we stand prepared for any challenge.”

He reiterated that the successful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra is not only about security but also about preserving the sanctity of the event and contributing to J&K’s tourism economy, which heavily depends on the peaceful completion of this revered religious pilgrimage.

“The CRPF continues to serve with dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Our focus remains unwavering: to ensure the yatris complete their spiritual journey safely,” DIG Kumar concluded. [KNT]
