Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday jointly chaired a high-level review meeting at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar to assess the progress of various ongoing developmental projects across the Union Territory.

Besides, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top administrative and civil officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and senior bureaucrats from departments such as housing, power, roads, education, and health, were present in the meeting. The focus remained on accelerating project implementation, removing bottlenecks, and ensuring timely delivery of public services.

During the meeting, Amit Shah emphasized the importance of good governance, transparency, and people-centric development. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a model of growth and peace. “Development must reach the grassroots level. Every rupee spent must reflect on the ground,” Shah said, directing officials to work with a sense of mission.

CM Omar Abdullah, while thanking the Home Minister for his continued support, stressed that development should be inclusive and participatory. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are keen to move forward. We need to ensure that their aspirations are met with sincerity, speed, and sensitivity,” Omar said.

Key sectors such as infrastructure, power supply, drinking water, tourism, and employment generation came under detailed discussion. Officials provided updates on flagship schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission, PMGSY, Smart City Projects in Srinagar and Jammu, and the status of new medical colleges and road connectivity in remote areas.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust both leaders also touched upon the importance of maintaining peace and communal harmony to create a stable environment for economic activity and investment. [KNT]
