Kupwara : A special awareness event aimed at combating drug abuse was organized on friday at the Sogam Police Station, in Kupwara bringing together influential religious leaders, including Imams of mosques and representatives from local madrasas in Lolab Valley.
The event was chaired by SDPO Lolab, Dr. Raees Ahmed, with SHO Sogam, Malik Imtiaz Ahmed, also in attendance.
The initiative sought to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and emphasized the importance of both religious and educational efforts in promoting a drug-free community. During the function, religious leaders from madrasas committed to continuing their efforts to educate the public and raise awareness about the dangers of drugs.
SDPO Dr. Raees Ahmed thanked the participants, emphasizing the need for collaboration between police and religious scholars to guide the youth towards moral and educational development.
SHO Sogam Malik Imtiaz Ahmed reaffirmed the police’s ongoing support for community welfare and educational progress, with the assurance of continuous cooperation from SSP Kupwara, Ghulam Jelani Wani, and his team in this noble cause.
