An awareness camp dedicated to preventing drug abuse was conducted in several blocks of Qalamabad as part of the Narco Coordination Center (NCORD) initiative, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara. The event aimed to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the dangers of drug addiction and the district’s ongoing efforts to address this pressing issue.
Key representatives from the administration, police, health department, and social welfare organizations participated in the camp, where they discussed the severe impact of drug abuse on individuals and communities. Experts highlighted methods for early detection, rehabilitation strategies, and the vital role of community support in assisting those struggling with addiction.
Tehsildar Langate/Qalamabad addressed the gathering, underscoring the need for a united approach to combat drug abuse. “Drug addiction is a significant threat to our youth and our future. We must collaborate—parents, teachers, community leaders, and law enforcement— to protect the next generation,” he stated.
Local residents, students, and social activists actively engaged in the camp, participating in discussions and awareness sessions. The police department informed attendees about legal actions against drug traffickers and urged the community to report any suspicious activity.
The program concluded with participants pledging to spread awareness and support initiatives that promote a drug-free environment.
Additionally, the camp raised awareness about the ban on poppy cultivation and cannabis, reaffirming the district’s commitment to combat illegal drug production.
