Bandipora, Dec 25: Bandipora Police have arrested three individuals across different areas of the district and seized significant quantities of contraband substances.
During a naka (checkpoint) at Papachan Bridge, police from PS Bandipora apprehended Irshad Ahmad Wani, son of Habibullah Wani from Hajin. He was found in possession of 47 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Bandipora.
In a similar operation at Shokbaba Sumlar, another individual, identified as Abdul Rashid Sheikh, son of Sonaullah Sheikh from Arin, was arrested. Police recovered 40 grams of a Charas-like substance from his possession, leading to the registration of another NDPS case at PS Bandipora.
In a third incident at Check Chandergeer, police stopped a Maruti Alto car with registration number JK15 C-0747. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 98 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. The driver, Mohmad Aqib Wani, son of GM Wani from Hajin, was arrested, and a case under the NDPS Act has been lodged at PS Hajin. The car has also been seized as part of the investigation.
