Kupwara: Border Security Forces on Wednesday said to have apprehended an over-ground-worker and recovered from his possession arms and ammunition in Kupwara.
“Based on specific information by BSF and further corroborated by SSP Kupwara regarding transshipment of Arms/Ammunition and explosive by an OGW, a joint check point was established at Reddi Chowkibal market by BSF, Army & JKP,” reads a statement issued here.
“During search a OGW namely Shabir Ahmad, son of Ghulam Din, resident of Gujar Basti, Ladriwam (Kupwara) was apprehended and following Arms/Amn & Explosive were recovered from his possession, which included; one each of pistol and pistol magazine, ten pistol rounds, four hand grenades and two IEDs,” reads the statement.
“It is reliably learnt that the militants were planning to use these stores to carry out militant activities during forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in Srinagar and surrounding areas,” reads the statement.
“This operation has delivered a major blow to the nefarious designs of PoJK based militant groups who have always aspired to disturb the peace and tranquillity in Kashmir Valley,” read the statement.
