The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Jammu and Kashmir, in line with nationwide celebrations. In Budgam district, the largest event was organized at the Sports Stadium Budgam by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Department of Ayush, and My Yuva Bharat, in collaboration with the Department of Education.
The event witnessed participation from a large number of school children and staff from across the district. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat. Chief Education Officer Budgam Rajeev Abrol, District Ayush Officer Dr. Ruhillah Naz, and DYSS Activity Incharges Gh. Hassan Khanday and Shakeel-u-Rehman were also present as guests of honor.
The yoga session began at 6:30 AM and continued for two hours. Trainers from the Ayush Department demonstrated various yoga postures and techniques while also explaining the health benefits of regular yoga practice.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat emphasized the importance of yoga in preventing diseases and promoting holistic health. District Ayush Officer Dr. Ruhillah Naz and DYSS officials encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily practice to reduce stress and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Notably, over 700 students and staff members participated in the event, making it one of the largest Yoga Day celebrations in the district. Similar programs were also held at zonal and block levels across Budgam.
