The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Labour Department for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to known sources of income, officials said on Monday.

Acting on the allegations, CBI teams conducted searches at seven locations linked to the accused, including residential and official premises, in Jammu and Kashmir. The raids were aimed at uncovering financial records, property documents, and other evidence related to the case.

Sources told that the preliminary inquiry revealed that the official had allegedly amassed wealth far exceeding his legitimate income during his tenure in various government positions. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and investigators are scrutinizing bank transactions, real estate holdings, and other assets suspected to be acquired through illicit means.

Sources added that during the searches, incriminating documents, electronic records, and details of multiple properties were recovered. The CBI is expected to summon the accused for questioning in the coming days as part of the ongoing probe. Further investigations are underway. [KNT]
