The event was led by Range Officer (RO) Rajwar, Tariq Nazir, alongside the Principals of the Higher Secondary Schools and faculty members. Several Chinar saplings were planted on the premises of the participating institutions as part of the initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, RO Tariq Nazir emphasized the historical and ecological importance of the Chinar tree in Kashmir’s landscape. He encouraged students to take an active role in environmental conservation, highlighting the need for afforestation and sustainable ecological practices.

The Principals of the Higher Secondary Schools echoed similar sentiments, stressing the responsibility of the younger generation in protecting the region’s natural heritage. They applauded the Forest Department’s efforts in fostering awareness about the significance of Chinar trees and ensuring their survival for future generations.

The event witnessed active participation from students, teachers, and forest officials, all united in their commitment to preserving the environment. Participants pledged to nurture the newly planted saplings and contribute to the broader cause of green conservation.

Chinar Day, observed annually on March 15, serves as a crucial reminder of the cultural and ecological significance of the Chinar tree, a timeless symbol of Kashmir’s heritage. The Forest Department reaffirmed its commitment to conducting similar initiatives, reinforcing the need for community-driven conservation efforts.
