Former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Omar Abdullah has stated that he is in constant contact with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regarding the developing situation in Iran and with particular reference to the safety of the Kashmiri students studying in Tehran, Shiraz, Qom, and various other cities.
Omar Abdullah wrote on ‘X’ that concerned families of the students need to be assured that all possible steps are being taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the students. He said the Government of India is in regular touch with Iranian authorities and monitoring the situation “based on the situation on the ground if possible it will organise evacuation.”
The safety of our students is the most important thing Abdullah said. He noted that as a parent himself he is knows that families are experiencing a high level of anxiety and he assured concerned families that the situation is being monitored closely, and they will continue to pay attention and take action as required.
