December 27 , TRK News: Kashmir Valley remains in the grip of a harsh cold snap, with fog shrouding the region on Wednesday.
The meteorological department reports Srinagar’s temperature at a chilly minus 2.6°C, 0.5°C below the seasonal norm. Widespread fog persists in most parts, impacting visibility and causing commuter challenges.
Qazigund registers a minimum of minus 3.2°C, below the norm, with fog affecting visibility. Pahalgam records minus 4.6°C, slightly above the norm, while Kokernag sees minus 2.2°C, slightly higher than usual.
Kupwara in north Kashmir records minus 4.2°C, below the norm. Gulmarg at minus 2.8°C experiences conditions 3.4°C above the norm.
Jammu’s minimum temperature is 7.6°C, slightly above the norm. Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah record varying temperatures.
The ‘Chillai-Kalan’ phase, a 40-day intense winter period, is ongoing. Generally cloudy weather with potential light snow in isolated higher areas is predicted for the next 24 hours.
Moderate to dense fog is expected over Central Kashmir, Plains of Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Pulwama until December 31. From January 1-2, the weather may be generally cloudy with light rain in isolated areas. January 3-4 may see generally cloudy conditions with light rain/snow at scattered places. (TRK News)
