The region is currently gripped by a severe cold wave, with recent temperature recordings indicating a significant drop in mercury levels.
In Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the mercury touched a low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, reflecting the frosty conditions prevailing in the area. Qazigund experienced the coldest night of the season, matching Srinagar’s temperature at minus 2.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the renowned hill station of Gulmarg witnessed a minimum temperature of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius.
The northern town of Kupwara also shivered in the icy embrace of winter, recording a minimum temperature of minus 2.5 degrees Celsius.
