Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary expressed pride and gratitude on the occasion of Kantantar Day, emphasizing the importance of the Constitution in safeguarding the rights of the people. Speaking at the Bakshi Stadium event, Choudhary paid tribute to the architects of the Indian Constitution, especially Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, acknowledging his contribution in granting citizens the right to speak and ensuring their constitutional privileges.

He affirmed that the Constitution has provided the people with special status and rights, which will always be safeguarded and demanded. “Our rights are made within this Constitution, and we are celebrating that today. The special status granted by the Constitution will always remain ours, and we will continue to demand it,” Choudhary stated.

The Deputy CM expressed his gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as to senior leaders Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, for giving him the opportunity to march at Bakshi Stadium on this significant day.

Reflecting on the historical context, Choudhary noted that the nation gained independence from British rule, and six years later, a political government was formed, which has since worked towards the welfare of the people. He highlighted the government’s plans concerning Article 370 and reassured that the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will always be upheld.

The celebrations at Bakshi Stadium marked a day of happiness and remembrance, as citizens paid homage to the martyrs who contributed to the region’s history and progress. (KNS)
