Kupwara : The Cyber Cell of District Police,Kupwara has successfully resolved several cases of online financial fraud, saving a total of ₹1,47,311.
In one incident, a complaint was received regarding a financial fraud involving ₹84,380. The victim had been duped through a fake trading message received via WhatsApp/Telegram, which instructed them to complete certain online tasks. Following these instructions resulted in the loss of ₹84,380. However, the Cyber Cell Kupwara, through meticulous investigation and cyber tactics, was able to block the transactions and save the entire amount.
In another case, a complaint was lodged wherein a victim was defrauded of ₹79,600. The Cyber Cell Kupwara promptly collected evidence and information from the victim and traced the beneficiary details through the concerned bank branch. It was discovered that the defrauded amount had been transferred to multiple bank accounts. The Cyber Cell Kupwara effectively managed to block the transactions, securing ₹62,931, and initiated the refund process.
The District Police Kupwara urges the public to remain vigilant against online fake trading scams, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and be wary of fake SMS credit messages.
