Jammu and Kashmir are under the grip of freezing temperatures, with Srinagar experiencing the coldest night of the season at minus 5.4°C. The meteorological department reports a decrease of 0.1°C, settling at minus 5.3°C. Today’s temperature is 4.4°C below the seasonal norm for Srinagar.
Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 3.8°C, Pahalgam at minus 5.8°C, Kokernag at minus 1.6°C, Kupwara at minus 4.2°C, and Gulmarg at minus 5.0°C. Jammu recorded 6.7°C, Banihal 1.7°C, Batote 3.7°C, and Bhaderwah at minus 0.2°C.
The Meteorological Department forecasts mainly dry and cold weather in J&K until December 24. The next 24 hours will see mainly dry conditions, with the possibility of brief light snow over extreme higher reaches on December 16. From December 17-24, the prediction is mainly dry weather.
“Overall, dry and cold weather is expected to persist over most places in J&K until December 24,” states the Meteorological Department. (TRK News)
