Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, along with Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director of New Medical Colleges, visited the Associated District Hospital GMC Handwara to review the progress of ongoing developments.
She was also accompanied by the Principal of GMC and the Executive Engineer of R&B Handwara during the visit.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the status of the newly constructed 200-bed building at the hospital.
Officials informed her that several departments have already been shifted to the new facility. However, delays caused by the Mechanical Engineering Department have hindered the installation of the central heating system and lift services.
Expressing concern over the delays, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the lack of essential infrastructure is adversely affecting patient care. She stressed the need to expedite the remaining work and assured that the new building will be fully operational and open to the public by March.
Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region, improving patient care and addressing long-standing challenges in the district.
