Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director Sericulture J&K, today visited the Basic Seed Station, Mirgund to assess the damage caused by a recent fire incident. During his visit, he conducted a thorough on-site inspection and took stock of the extent of damage inflicted on the mulberry wealth.
Taking serious note of the incident, Bhat issued immediate on-the-spot instructions to suspend and attach three officials one Operative and two Nursery Man who, prima facie, were found negligent, leading to the unfortunate occurrence. He emphasized that any act of negligence that compromises the integrity of the department’s infrastructure and assets will not be tolerated.
Addressing the officers and field functionaries present, the Director Sericulture J&K underscored the critical need to safeguard departmental infrastructure and mulberry wealth from such incidents. He reiterated that such occurrences are unacceptable and should be prevented at all costs. He directed the already constituted committee to expedite its inquiry into the matter and furnish a detailed report with their findings, views, and recommendations. Additionally, he stressed that the inquiry should fix responsibility on officials who failed to discharge their duties effectively and did not take the necessary precautions to avert such incidents.
During his visit, Bhat also conducted an inspection of various departmental assets, including Mulberry Nurseries, Farms, Silkworm Seed Units, and the Office of Manager Seed at the Basic Seed Station Mirgund. While reviewing the facilities, he highlighted the importance of strengthening security and surveillance of the boundary walls of all Mulberry Nurseries, Farms, Seed Units, and offices of the Sericulture Department to prevent trespassing or any potential damage to departmental property.
The Director further directed all officers to adopt stringent measures to thwart any encroachment attempts and ensure that any such incidents are immediately reported to higher authorities for swift action. He also instructed the staff at the Basic Seed Station Mirgund to maintain cleanliness and hygiene at their workplaces, fostering a disciplined and conducive environment for effective functioning of silkworm seed units and other departmental establishments.
Bhat reaffirmed the department’s commitment to preserving and protecting its assets and urged all officers and field functionaries to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing any such untoward incidents in the future.(KNS)
