The Election Commission of India (ECI) has recognized the contributions of IPS officer Vijay Kumar, an AGMUT cadre officer, for his role in ensuring the successful conduct of the 18th Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Vijay Kumar, who served as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in J&K during the elections, was honoured with a ‘Certificate of Exemplary Leadership’ signed by the Chief Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners. The recognition highlights his exceptional service and leadership in facilitating the smooth conduct of the crucial electoral process in the Union Territory.
These elections held significant importance as they were the first general elections in Jammu and Kashmir after the region’s reorganization in 2019. Ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process in the J&K posed unique challenges, and Kumar’s leadership played a vital role in managing security and logistical arrangements.
Recently, Vijay Kumar was transferred to the Delhi segment of the AGMUT cadre and has been posted as Special Commissioner in Delhi Police. His tenure in Jammu and Kashmir was marked by strategic policing, counterinsurgency operations, and election security management, earning him accolades from the Election Commission and the administration.
