Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Saturday, June 7, in Jammu and Kashmir while in Saudi Arabia it will be observed on June 6.
Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam said here that the crescent marking the beginning of Dhul Hajj was not sighted anywhere in the region.
As a result, Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Saturday, June 7, in accordance with the Islamic calendar. “Since the moon has not been sighted today, the month of Dhul Qadah will complete 30 days, and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 7,” stated the Grand Mufti.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and is marked by congregational prayers, the sacrifice of animals, and acts of charity.
However, Dhul Hajj moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia this evening and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated there and in other parts of world on June 6.
