An FIR has been lodged at Kotranka Police Station in Rajouri district against Reyaz Mala, a news portal handler/scribe for uploading fake news on social media.

Official sources said that a journalist of Metro News Portal in Rajouri has been booked by police for allegedly spreading fake news about a youth, Anayat Ullah and his involvement with some terrorists.

According to the information received from the police, Riyaz had shared a video on Facebook on the midnight of October 7-8, 2023 alleging that the said person Anayat Ullah had tried to surround him with two gunmen and was linked to terrorists.

He had also declared that he somehow escaped from there and had left his mobile phone at the spot. While the video is being shared, the police along with other security forces had cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation and after searching through the night nothing was found.

An FIR has been registered following the complaint of local youth Anayat Ullah.

SHO Kotranka Shakeel Manhas said that an FIR number 102/2023 has been registered under sections 384,500,504,505 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly airing rumours and threatening the complainant. The complainant alleged that portal handler had also demanded money from him.

Anayat Ullah alleged that Reyaz Mala has created tension among the local people of the area by making a fake video and posting it on the social site, damaging his reputation.
