Fire broke out in the Banimullah Kulgam forest compartment number 27 yesterday evening, causing significant concern among the local community. The blaze quickly spread across the area, but the Forest Department Kulgam acted swiftly and arrived at the scene to contain the fire.

Forest employees on the ground confirmed that they successfully controlled the fire, preventing further damage to the forest ecosystem. A Forest Department official urged the local residents to avoid using fire equipment in forested areas, emphasizing that such activities could pose a serious risk of damaging the natural habitat and surrounding areas.

“The situation was promptly managed, and the fire was controlled. We request everyone in the vicinity to remain cautious and avoid any fire-related activities in the forest,” said a forest employee present at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Local authorities are working to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future and are continuing to raise awareness about forest safety.(KNS)
