Former Minister and MLA Bandipora Usman Majid here on Sunday held a massive youth convention in Bandipora. The convention which was organized at his official residence, saw the participation of hundreds of youth from the Bandipora constituency. The convention was aimed at galvanizing young people for active participation in the upcoming elections in Bandipora.
Addressing the gathering, loyalists and aides said, that Usman Majid is tirelessly working for the welfare of the people during the current challenging circumstances. They emphasized that before 2002, Bandipora was a town grappling with backwardness and neglect, yearning for development and a brighter future. It was Usman Majid who brought about the transformation that Bandipora so desperately needed following his first election victory. His commitment, visionary leadership, and deep-rooted dedication to the people of Bandipora have led to remarkable achievements, uplifting the region and turning it into a thriving hub of development.
On this occasion, Several PhD scholars, along with dozens of members from other political parties, have recently joined forces with Usman Majid. The newly joined workers expressed that the NC, PDP, and other leaders have been playing with the lives, dignity, and honour of the people of Bandipora.
Addressing his loyalists, youth, and workers, Usman Majid declared that he will contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections. Despite being approached by multiple parties, Majid affirmed his decision to go solo, confident in the strength and support they have built together. “We have the power and unity to emerge victorious on our own,” he said.
Majid said that “My work needs no introduction to the people of Bandipora. My dedication is evident, as I have always been at the doorstep of the people, regardless of the circumstances. I have consistently treated my political opponents with the same respect and fairness that I have shown to my own cadre and workers. Whether serving as an MLA and Minister or standing in the opposition, I have never shown bias or prejudice.”
He further emphasized his vision for the people of Bandipora over the next five years, focusing on continued development, infrastructure improvement, and the overall upliftment of the region. “My commitment is to ensure that Bandipora reaches new heights of progress and prosperity, with every citizen benefiting from the growth and opportunities that lie ahead,” Majid added.
He urged the people of Bandipora to think big, think ahead, and embrace a politically conscious mindset for the welfare of their region. “It’s time for us to envision a brighter future and take ownership of our collective destiny. Majid urged his loyalists that, we must rise above short-term gains and work towards long-term prosperity, ensuring that Bandipora becomes a model of progress and development for others to follow.
Majid expressed that the youth of Bandipora have high expectations from me, and he vowed never to let them down. “I promise you, I will always stand by you, just as I have in the past, especially during unprecedented times. You know that I have been there for you when it mattered the most, and I will continue to fight for your future, ensuring that your dreams and aspirations are realized. We will build a Bandipora that offers opportunities, growth, and a better quality of life for every young person in our constituency.
He emphasized that Bandipora had been neglected by politicians for 40 years, but its transformation began in 2002 when I was elected as MLA and later served as a Minister in Jammu and Kashmir. “Under my leadership, we built colleges, hospitals, and modernized roads, ensuring that every corner of Bandipora received electricity and essential services. These developments marked the beginning of a new era for our region, one where progress and prosperity are within reach for everyone. My commitment is to continue this momentum, ensuring that Bandipora becomes a model of development and a beacon of hope for future generations.
Lashing out at the BJP, Majid accused the party of snatching away the identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by revoking Article 370. “The BJP took this drastic step without consulting the people, stripping us of our identity and disregarding our aspirations and sentiments. By revoking 370, they have not only undermined our rights but also shown a blatant disregard for the voice and will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Commenting on the withdrawal of his security, Majid said, “I don’t need any security. The people of Bandipora are my true protectors, guarding me around the clock. Their support and trust are my greatest shields, and I have full confidence in their unwavering commitment to stand by me, no matter the circumstances.
