Four outstanding Wushu athletes from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir have been selected to represent India at the prestigious Moscow Wushu Stars Championship, scheduled to be held from June 1 to 7 in Moscow, Russia.
The athletes Arzath Wangoo (Wing-Chun), Rudra Pratap Singh (Nanquan), Hiranya (Changquan) and Kapish (Sanda) were shortlisted during the national selection trials organized by the Wushu Association of India at Dehradun from May 2 to 6. All four have previously won accolades at sub-junior and junior national events and are considered top performers in their respective categories.
Secretary of J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, congratulated the athletes and extended best wishes for their performance in Moscow. Office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K, including President Vijay Saraf, General Secretary Bhavneet and Vice President Ranjeet Kalra, also expressed pride in the players’ achievement.
Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee, lauded the selection and highlighted J&K’s successful history at the event, with past medalists like Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, Abhishek Singh Jamwal, Ayera Chisti and Jiya Manhas bringing glory to the nation.
