In observance of International Labour Day 2025, Govt. Girls Middle School Boniyar organized a series of meaningful activities aimed at promoting respect, dignity and appreciation for the labour force. The event began with a solemn pledge taken by students and staff, reinforcing values of equality, justice, and human dignity.
The pledge read.
“I solemnly pledge to honour the dignity of labour, to respect every worker regardless of their role, to uphold the rights of labourers, and to advocate for safe, fair and just working conditions. I promise to contribute positively to my workplace and society, to discourage exploitation and discrimination and to always value hard work and dedication. On this International Labour Day, I commit myself to the principles of justice, equality and dignity for all workers.”
The cultural Co-Ordinator of the school, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Qureshi, delivered an insightful awareness speech, engaging the students with the historical background and the importance of celebrating Labour Day. He emphasized that labourers, regardless of their work type, deserve honour, timely wages, respect and fair treatment. “We must appreciate the backbone of our economy the labourers by offering them dignity at workplaces, respecting their hard work and ensuring their rights,” he said.
Adding to the sentiments, Mr. Muslim Bin Akil, another dedicated teacher of the institution, praised the contribution of labourers in nation building and applauded the initiative of honouring them publicly.
The most remarkable moment of the celebration was the visit of a team of teachers, led by Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Qureshi, to a workplace near the school. There, the team appreciated four labourers from different places by presenting them with certificates of appreciation. The gesture was warmly received by the workers, whose joyful reactions reflected the impact of being acknowledged and valued in their professional space.
The Headmistress of the school, Ms. Shabina Masood, supported the initiative wholeheartedly and expressed that such activities not only raise awareness among students but also strengthen the values of humanity and gratitude in the school community.
This inspiring event stood as a powerful reminder that real education involves learning to respect and honour every contributor to society.
The celebration concluded with students engaging in thoughtful discussions about the importance of labourers in daily life. Many students shared personal experiences and pledged to treat workers at home and in the community with greater empathy and kindness. The initiative, guided by the New Education Policy 2020 values of experiential and value based learning, successfully fostered a spirit of gratitude and social responsibility among the students.
Headmistress Ms. Shabina Masood appreciated the efforts of the staff, especially Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Qureshi, for planning such a purposeful event. She highlighted that acknowledging the invisible hands behind our comfort is an essential step toward building an inclusive society.
The programme served as a reminder that respect, when extended beyond classrooms to real life heroes, leaves a lasting impact on young minds.
