GP Fund mechanism finalised between J&K and Ladakh

The mechanism for settlement of GP Fund, SLI Balances and Final Refund cases of Employees of UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh was finalised by the Jammu and Kashmir Government here today.

An order in this regard was issued by Sanosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary to Government, Finance Department.

The order reads, that the matter of transferring General Provident Fund (GPF) balances of employees who were or are posted or deputed from the J&K UT to the Ladakh UT and vice versa has been settled between two Governments.

A proposed mechanism has been finalised by the Government of J&K with the Government of Ladakh and has been accepted by the Government of Ladakh.

Accordingly new mechanism, settlement of cases belonging to the period up to 31-3-2020 have already been apportioned between two UTs. The details of GPF balances of the employees shall be shared through the transfer entries without actual transfer of funds.

While the cases belonging to the period from 1-4-2020 to 31-3-2023 shall be transferred through the cheques to the concerned district fund office in UT of J&K.

These cases shall be processed as final Refund cases by the concerning drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) in the UT of Ladakh and upon receipt of authority from the fund office the amount shall be transferred by the concerned DDO in the UT of Ladakh to the concerned district Fund office in the UT of J&K.

From 1-4-2023 onwards UT of Ladakh has already issued order no 269-F of 2023 dated 21-02-2023, directing that mandatory deductions of account of GP Fund subscriptions for the employees of UT of J&K who are on deputation to UT of Ladakh shall not deposited in the GPF account Head of UT of Ladakh, instead of concerned DDOs shall transfer the GPF subscriptions for such employees to the UT of J&K.

Accordingly all the concerned officers are directed to strictly adhere to these guidelines to ensure seamless transfer to GPF balances of the employees between UT of J&K and the UT of Ladakh for the specified period, the order said. (Daily Excelsior)
