Ghaziabad, December 14, 2024 – The Kashmiri Youth Exchange Program, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (My Bharat), Ghaziabad, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, concluded successfully. The event was held under the leadership of Deputy Director Devendra Kumar at the NDRF Shaheed Auditorium. The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Commandant P.K. Tiwari of the 8th Battalion, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), addressed the youth and inspired them to contribute to nation-building.
Key Highlights of the Program
Address by Commandant P.K. Tiwari
Commandant P.K. Tiwari, while addressing the youth, stated, “The nation needs disciplined, hardworking, and visionary youth who can work towards achieving significant goals. Participation in nation-building becomes meaningful when the youth recognize their potential and commit to their role in the Vision 2047 of a Developed India. Only informed citizens can lead the country toward progress.” He urged the youth to engage in activities beneficial to the nation with creativity and dedication.
Plantation Drive – ‘One Tree for Mother’
On the concluding day, a plantation drive titled ‘One Tree for Mother’ was organized at the NDRF campus. Under this campaign, 51 saplings of various species were planted. Commandant P.K. Tiwari and Deputy Director Devendra Kumar personally initiated the drive by planting saplings. Kashmiri youth pledged to adopt environmentally sustainable lifestyles. Groups of two actively participated in planting trees under the campaign’s theme.
Expert Guidance for Youth
Deputy Director Devendra Kumar encouraged the youth to be bold, creative, and curious. He stated, “Youth should develop a lifelong learning habit and analyze experiences to learn from them.” He elaborated on the activities conducted during the program, including financial literacy, language skills, career guidance, and skill development.
Baghpat District Youth Officer Arun Tiwari provided insights into various schemes under My Bharat, such as the Fit India Movement, Volunteer for Bharat, and experiential learning programs. He encouraged the youth to engage with these initiatives. My Bharat Youth Leader Aman Kumar presented activities of the Udaan Youth Club and motivated the participants to actively engage in community service. He highlighted efforts to empower rural youth through youth club activities.
Youth Shared Their Experiences
The Kashmiri youth participants described the program as life-changing. Ayesha from Kupwara referred to it as a symbol of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, emphasizing that the program provided an in-depth understanding of Indian culture and heritage. Ahmed Sabir from Srinagar stated, “The historical sites and activities here have been deeply educational and will always be remembered.” Akash from Baramulla highlighted the career guidance and skill development sessions as extremely beneficial for his future. Amir Lone from Kupwara shared his adventurous and sports-related experiences.
Cultural Diversity and Food Festival
The program included cultural performances and a food festival. Kashmiri youth showcased local delicacies, which were highly appreciated by all attendees. The event offered a platform to present the diverse cuisines and cultural heritage of India.
Distribution of Certificates
Certificates were distributed to all participants by Commandant P.K. Tiwari and Deputy Director Devendra Kumar. Kupwara District Coordinator Nazakat Ahmad was specially honored for his active participation in the program. Volunteers Talib, Prakash Tiwari, and Sunny Sharma were also felicitated.
This program not only connected Kashmiri youth with other parts of India but also provided opportunities for their social, cultural, and professional empowerment. In his closing remarks, Deputy Director Devendra Kumar thanked all participants for their contributions to the success of the program and urged them to actively participate in the Vision 2047 for a Developed India.
