Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo has expressed deep concern over the heavy damage caused by a recent hailstorm that affected orchards and farmlands across several areas of Kulgam and Shopian districts.
Terming the calamity a major setback for farmers and orchardists who depend on the upcoming harvest for their livelihood, Itoo said the government stands firmly with the farming community during this difficult time.
“The loss is not only of crops but of months of hard work and hope,” the minister remarked.
She said the district administrations have been directed to conduct immediate assessments of the damage and ensure timely compensation to the affected families.
Itoo also highlighted the government’s commitment to farmer welfare through schemes like HADP, RKVY, and KCC, while stressing transparent coordination for swift relief distribution. (KNS)
