National Conference (NC) on Thursday took strong note of social media post pertaining to the hike in the honorarium of SPO’s and divested its social media advisor to vice president JKNC for putting out the content without any attempt to verify or cross check.

The party after feeling backlash on social media handles, removed the post from its official X-handle.

“Delighted to announce a hike in SPO honorarium for Jammu & Kashmir: New recruits to get Rs 12,000 monthly; after 5 years: 18,000; after 10 years 24,000; and after attaining 15+ years of service the SPOs will get 30,000 per month salary. #ApkiSarkaarApkeSath,” the post which was shared by JKNC’s X-handle earlier said.

Soon it went viral on social media handles, several netizens including political leaders questioned its veracity, asking the ruling party to come clean over the development.

J&K Peoples Conference (JKPC) president and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone sought clarification over the matter and said the salaries of SPOs are funded by Minister of Home Affairs (MHA) through Security Related Expenditure (SRE).

“Is it true? The salaries of SPOs are funded by MHA through SRE. (Security related expenditure). Still if the state government has created or invented a way to supplement their salaries some clarification on that. Per se it is MHA domain. Reposted-as NC deleted the post,” Lone said on X.

The JKNC said it shouldn’t have been put out and was done without any attempt to verify or cross check the information being put out.

Taking strong action the party divested the person of his responsibility as social media advisor to vice-president J&K National Conference.

“A recent post concerning SPOs honorarium was put out from various handles connected to the party & the Chief Minister. This post should not have been put out & was done without any attempt to verify or cross check the information being put out. While we have been strongly advocating for an increase in the honorarium & we are making every effort to see this done it hasn’t happened till now,” JKNC informed on X.

“The person responsible has been taken to task & has been divested of his responsibility as Social Media advisor to VP JKNC,” JKNC added on X.
