In a grand tribute to the visionary architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the “Jai Bhim Pad Yatra 2025” was ceremoniously flagged off today from Hokersar Wetland, Zainakote to Narbal Crossing by Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Hon’ble Minister of State and Chairperson, Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board. The event was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Srinagar under the banner of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 700 youth from various districts of the Union Territory, marching with pride and purpose to uphold constitutional values and promote Ambedkarite principles of equality, justice, liberty, and fraternity.
In her keynote address, Dr. Andrabi lauded the efforts of NYKS and MY Bharat J&K for engaging youth in nation-building and fostering awareness on constitutional duties. She emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is witnessing a mass movement to strengthen the spirit of Viksit Bharat@2047, with youth playing a pivotal role.
Key Highlights of the Jai Bhim Pad Yatra:
Flag-off Ceremony: Led by Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi along with officials from NYKS, police department, wildlife department, and civil society members.
Oath on the Constitution’s Preamble: Administered collectively to reaffirm democratic values.
Street Plays & Cultural Performances: Youth artists performed impactful Nukkad Nataks and songs focused on constitutional awareness and social justice.
Cleanliness Drive (Shramdaan): Carried out near Ambedkar Chowk and Hokersar area under the Swachh Bharat mission.
Garlanding & Statue Cleaning: A tribute to Babasaheb by youth volunteers at Ambedkar Chowk and the culmination point at Narbal.
MY Bharat Registration Drive: Dedicated kiosks were set up for youth enrollment into MY Bharat.
The event was graced by several dignitaries including Mr. Nisar Ahmad Butt (State Director, NYKS J&K & Ladakh), Mr. Khushal Gupta (District Youth Officer), Mr. Naseer Ahmad (Range Officer, Wildlife Dept), Mr. Rahi Reyaz (TOT Kashmir), APA Gulzar Ganaie, SHO Shalteng Rameez Ahmad, and respected civil society members like Abdul Khaliq Ahanger, Bashir Irfan, Mohd Yousuf, Murtaza Ali, and Mehboob Hussain.
Youth icons Bilal Ahmad Parray and Khalid Baqal inspired the gathering with their speeches encouraging active participation in democratic processes and community service.
