Huge quantity of Illicit forest timber seized in Bandipora, FIR Registered

Bandipora police along with forest officials in a joint operation against illegal timber smuggling, today during intervening night seized a huge quantity of illicit forest timber in the Watapora area of Bandipora.

Acting on a specific information about a consignment of illegally smuggled forest timber in Watapora, a police party of PS Bandipora along with officials of Forest Department conducted a raid at a specific location at village Watapora.During search, police was able to recover 197 wooden sleepers of Deodar and Kail measuring about 134 Cft from the said spot.

In this regard Case FIR under relevant sections of BNS & Forest Act has been registered in PS Bandipora. One bandsaw mill has been seized and the owner of the said bandsaw has been arrested. Further Investigation of the case is going on.
