Member of Legislative Assembly on Trehgam segment, Mir Saifullah, has announced plans to file a privilege motion against the Director SKIMS, following an alleged dismissive response amid the critical treatment of a five-year-old boy injured in a leopard attack.
The victim, Israr Ahmad, is currently undergoing emergency care at Soura Institute after sustaining severe injuries.
MLA Saifullah said that he personally contacted the hospital chief, urging for intervention. However, he claims the director coldly dismissed his request, reportedly saying, “I can’t do anything. Go ask a doctor.”
Angered by this alleged negligence, Saifullah has vowed to take file a privilege motion against the hospital Director.
The MLA emphasized that such indifference from a hospital head is unacceptable and unbecoming of a senior health officer, especially when addressing an elected representative.
“I have been entrusted with some mandate from my people and am supposed to come upto the expectation of a commoner,” Mir asserted, adding, “the Director could have gently passed on the directions to the medical staff on duty, but he behaved as if I was seeking any personal favour.”
Meanwhile, the hospital director has denied these allegations, asserting that he was never contacted by the MLA. “The hospital is providing the best possible care to the child,” the Director said while dismissing the accusations of MLA contacting him and his purported response as “completely false.” (Alfaz)
