NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped for a ‘fruitful winter session” of Parliament saying that the world is looking at India with ‘great hope’ and Parliament’s time should be used in such a way that it strengthens the respect that India has gained at the global level.

In his media address before the Parliamentary session, PM Modi said, “Today the world is looking at India with great hope. Our use of Parliament’s time and our behaviour in the House should be such that it strengthens the respect that India has gained at the global level.”

The Prime Minister invited all the MPs to take this session forward with zeal and enthusiasm. Hoping for a fruitful session, he said that this session should be such that it inspires the upcoming generations.

He said that this is the need of the hour that all the parliamentarians should live up to the sentiments of the ‘dedicated’ voters of India.

“The voters of India are dedicated to democracy, their dedication to the Constitution, their faith in the parliamentary working system, all of us sitting in the Parliament will have to live up to the sentiments of the people and this is the need of the hour. The only way to make up for it is that we should highlight various aspects of every subject in a very healthy manner in the House, the coming generations will also get inspiration from it. I hope that this session will be very fruitful, which will increase the pride of 75th anniversary of the Constitution day, provide strength to India’s dignity in the world, provide opportunities to new MPs and welcome the newer ideas, with this, I once again invite all the respected MPs to take this session forward with zeal and enthusiasm,” PM Modi said.

The Parliament session is set to start today, with various issues slated to be discussed, including the Waqf Act (Amendment) Bill. The session will conclude on December 20.

There will be no sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on November 26, to commemorate ‘Constitution day’.
