In 3-years, Srinagar gardens generate over Rs. 1.5 crore revenue

The gardens and parks under the jurisdiction of the Floriculture Officer in District Srinagar have collectively generated over Rs. 1.5 crore in revenue from 2022 to 2025, according to recent data.

The revenue was sourced from departmental collections and outsourced ticketing systems across locations like Children’s Park, Iqbal Park, Badamwari, and Eidgah Park.

As per the official documents available with news agency at Children’s Park, the revenue generated departmentally stood at Rs. 93,864 for the year 2022-23, with the entry ticketing system outsourced at a bid amount of Rs. 13,94,675. However, in 2023-24, no departmental revenue was recorded, as the ticketing system remained outsourced at a higher bid amount of Rs. 22,98,000. For 2024-25, the department generated Rs. 8,94,646, with the outsourcing bid rising significantly to Rs. 33,02,399. Tourist footfall at Children’s Park saw a notable increase, with 78,994 visitors in 2022-23, 78,044 in 2023-24, and a sharp rise to 1,72,498 in 2024-25.

Iqbal Park, on the other hand, showed consistent growth in departmental revenue, increasing from Rs. 12,32,220 in 2022-23 to Rs. 14,43,162 in 2023-24 and further to Rs. 19,19,130 by February 2025. Despite this, tourist footfall at Iqbal Park declined significantly, from 2,01,786 in 2022-23 to 62,077 in 2023-24, before slightly recovering to 67,333 in 2024-25.

Badamwari Park experienced a mixed trend in revenue generation. In 2022-23, the entry ticketing system was outsourced at Rs. 28,27,300, with no departmental revenue recorded. The following year, departmental revenue was Rs. 34,960, with outsourcing bid amounts rising to Rs. 52,47,017. By 2024-25, departmental revenue surged to Rs. 25,90,250. Tourist footfall at Badamwari Park, however, declined sharply from 3,16,456 in 2022-23 to 1,89,226 in 2023-24 and further to 79,944 in 2024-25.

Eidgah Park recorded modest departmental revenues of Rs. 57,308 in 2022-23 and Rs. 56,445 in 2023-24. In 2024-25, the entry ticketing system was outsourced at Rs. 3,70,111, with no departmental revenue reported. Tourist footfall at Eidgah Park remained relatively low but showed gradual growth, increasing from 3,191 in 2022-23 to 3,832 in 2023-24 and further to 8,740 in 2024-25—(KNO)
