The Government of India has launched Operation Sindhu to bring back Indian nationals from Iran due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
As the first step, the Indian Embassy helped evacuate 110 Indian students from northern Iran. They were safely taken to Armenia by road on June 17 under the supervision of Indian missions in Iran and Armenia. The students left the Armenian capital, Yerevan, on a special flight at 2:55 PM on June 18 and are expected to reach New Delhi early on June 19.
India has thanked both Iran and Armenia for supporting the evacuation process.
The Indian government says it is giving top priority to the safety of Indians abroad. The embassy in Iran is helping move citizens to safer areas and arranging their return.
Indians in Iran are advised to contact the Indian Embassy in Tehran or the 24×7 Control Room in New Delhi for assistance. Emergency contact numbers and email addresses have also been shared for quick help.
