India Urges First-Ever Global Stocktake Outcome to Address Pre-2020 Gaps, Emphasize Equity, and Confront Lack of Ambition Among Developed Nations in Climate Change Fight.
The Global Stocktake, a comprehensive two-year UN review assessing global progress towards Paris Agreement goals, will conclude its evaluation at COP28 in Dubai.
In a formal submission to the UNFCCC outlining expectations from the Global Stocktake, India stressed the need for the outcome to prompt developed nations to cut emissions in line with historical responsibilities. Additionally, it urged these nations to offer robust support to developing countries, encompassing financial aid, technology development and transfer, and capacity building.
