Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami on Tuesday expressed deep concern over Israel’s brutal war in Palestine and aggression toward Iran, calling it a grave threat to world peace.

His remarks came during a protest in Srinagar, held as part of a nationwide call by Left parties, including CPI (M), to express solidarity with Palestine and Iran and condemn rising aggression.

Speaking at a gathering, Tarigami as per a statement said, “This day is dedicated to the people of Palestine. We want to send a message that though we are far away, our hearts beat for you, we share your grief, and we will raise our voices against this brutality. Barbarism will lose, and humanity will rise again.”

The CPI(M) leader urged the Government of India to break its silence and take a principled stand that aligns with the country’s longstanding and historical support for the Palestinian cause. He demanded that New Delhi immediately halt all military and security cooperation with Israel, stating that India must not be complicit, directly or indirectly, in the atrocities being committed.

“Secular nations, activists, and conscientious people must raise their voice against the brutality unleashed in Palestine, Gaza, and now even in Iran. Scientists and those who advocated peace were killed in the dark of night. The voice of the oppressed cannot be silenced by weapons,” he said.

Tarigami also criticised the role of the United States, saying, “Those aiding the perpetrators of violence must be held accountable. We appeal to the people of India and the world to stand with the oppressed. It has been part of our tradition and culture to stand with the oppressed.”

“No matter how dark or long the night is, the sun will rise again; it is bound to rise again,” Tarigami added.

Expressing unwavering support for the people of Palestine Tarigami strongly condemned the genocide and war crimes being perpetrated by the Israeli government in Gaza and other occupied territories. He described the ongoing military aggression as a grave violation of international law and human rights, calling it an affront to the very conscience of humanity.

He emphasized that the Palestinian struggle is not just a political issue but a deeply moral and humanitarian cause. He reiterated that the people of Palestine are fighting a just battle for nationhood, dignity, and freedom—rights that have long been denied to them under brutal occupation.

The event ended with slogans echoing solidarity: “Inquilab Zindabad,” “Palestinian par barbariyat band karo,” and “Iranian par barbariyat band karo.”

Besides Tarigami, Mohammad Abass, Secretary CPI(M) J&K; Mohammad Afzal Parray, CPI(M) leader; Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Lone, Sr.leader CPI(M), Abdul Rashid Pandit, trade union leader; and Zahoor Ahmad Rather were among others who also addressed the solidarity meeting—(KNO)
