Actor James Woods’ Los Angeles home was destroyed in the recent wildfires, sparking irony and mixed reactions online after his outspoken support for actions against Palestinians.

The fire has drawn attention to the actor’s controversial political views, with many social media users commenting on the coincidence of the timing.

Woods described how he fled his house as flames approached, calling it a surreal experience. “One day you’re swimming in the pool, and the next day it’s all gone,” Woods said. He also tearfully recounted rescuing an elderly neighbor and mentioned his niece bringing her piggy bank to help rebuild.

However, Woods’ situation has drawn mixed reactions online. Some individuals have taken to social media to highlight his previous controversial pro-genocide statements regarding Gaza, where Israel’s military actions have resulted in significant destruction and displacement.

These comments have prompted criticism and calls for accountability, with some users suggesting that his support for such views undermines any sympathy for his current circumstances.

Online users quickly resurfaced James Woods’ controversial remarks in which he expressed support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.

The ongoing genocide has reportedly resulted in more than 46,000 Palestinian deaths, with over 70 percent of the victims being women and children.

Additionally, over 110,000 have been wounded, and millions have been displaced since October 2023. Some studies and experts suggest the actual death toll may be closer to 200,000.

Arab columnist and blogger Abdulla Alamadi wrote on X: “Whoever practices injustice or calls for it, God must punish him sooner or later. It is divine justice that only those who have some faith in their heart can understand.”

Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha responded to Woods in a letter on X, saying: “How dare you cry on air?!”

“When our house was bombed on October 28, 2023, I had no home or safe place to go, nor the luxury to watch it on TV. I still can’t return to the ruins of my house because my city is occupied.”

“A friend of mine, Ma’rouf Al-Ashqar, who was helping us salvage what we could from the wreckage, was killed in January 2024. He had a gentle voice and loved reading Russian literature, especially Dostoevsky. Does that disturb you?”

“My aunt’s house was bombed in October 2024. Her daughter, along with 15 others, was killed. Many are still trapped under the rubble. Does this mean anything to you?” the letter continued.

This contrast between Woods’ personal tragedy and his past inflammatory statements has prompted many to question the authenticity of his empathy, urging a more consistent and compassionate stance in addressing human suffering, regardless of the context or location.
