Manshika Rajput, a Class XI student from the border village of Pargwal, has secured the first position in the recently concluded National Meteorology Olympiad. The prestigious competition was organized to mark the 150th anniversary of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Manshika is currently studying at Government Higher Secondary School, Pargwal, located near the India-Pakistan International Border. She was felicitated by Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology at IMD, for her exceptional performance. The Met-Olympiad aimed to inspire young scholars and raise awareness about weather and climate science. Participants faced a series of meteorological challenges to test their knowledge. Manshika’s achievement brings pride not only to her school but also to the remote village of Pargwal in Jammu. The event also saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched the IMD Vision-2047 document, alongside Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Professor Celeste Saulo, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
