Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference on Thursday welcomed the renewed push for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir by the Leaders of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
A party spokesperson stated that PC commends the joint letter addressed to the Prime Minister, terming it “a much-needed intervention that reflects the collective national conscience on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The spokesperson said that the unequivocal call from the country’s top opposition leaders would strengthen the voice of millions of J&K residents who continue to seek justice and dignity through the restoration of their constitutional rights.
“The demand for the return of statehood is not a matter of politics but one of fundamental democratic principle. We welcome Rahul Gandhi ji and Kharge ji for standing up for the people of J&K and voicing what is morally and constitutionally due,” the spokesperson said.
