The recruitment process for 4002 Constable posts in various wings of the Jammu and Kashmir Police-put on hold due to allegations of irregularities in the Constable Telecommunication and Photography exam results-is set to resume soon, officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) said.
“The very next thing that we are working on currently is to ensure that the recruitment process moves further, and we are trying our best to do it at the earliest,” a top JKSSB official said.
When asked about the possible timeline, the official stated, “It would begin at a time that would be convenient for the students of the either regions of the Jammu and Kashmir provinces.”
Regarding the outcome of the inquiry launched in January 2025 into alleged discrepancies in the Constable Telecommunication and Photography results, the official said, “The inquiry panel didn’t find a very concrete evidence to validate the allegations levelled by the students.”
After the results for different posts of the Constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police were declared in January 2025, several aspirants raised concerns, alleging that candidates who scored poorly in the Constable (Executive/ Armed/ SDRF) exams had unexpectedly topped in the Telecommunication and Photography examinations inspite of the fact that the gap between the two examination was only of a few days only.
Pertinently, the recruitment drive covers 4002 posts, including 1689 for Constable Armed/IRP, 1689 for Constable Executive Police, 502 for Constable Telecom, 100 for Constable SDRF and 22 for Constable Photographer posts.
The process began with the issuance of the notification number 01 of 2024 on July 16, 2024, followed by a 30 days application window from August 8 to September 7, 2024.
The written exams were conducted smoothly on December 1, 8, and 22, 2024, and the results were declared on January 15, 2025.
However, due to the controversy over the alleged discrepancies in the results and delay of almost six months since the beginning of the probe in January 2025, the candidates have grown anxious-fearing the process might face prolonged postponement like earlier recruitment cycles in the region.
The shortlisted candidates from the written examination will proceed to the next stages, including the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET), to complete the selection process for different posts in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Daily Excelsior
