19-year-old Shabnam Manzoor, a writer from Gundimanchher in Lolab, has published her first book titled Kashmir: The Chronicle of Time, an engrossing account that records the history, culture and tales of Kashmir. She is studying at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, in her graduation course. She has been for the last year plus involved intensely in researching and penning the book out of an undying desire for her homeland.
A former student of Government Higher Secondary School, Sogam, Lolab, and an avid volleyball player during her school years, Shabnam has always found a balance between academic pursuits and her passion for storytelling. Her book, Kashmir: The Chronicle of Time, weaves historical events, cultural narratives, and personal insights into a written tapestry that offers a unique, quasi-autobiographical vision of Kashmir.
I embarked on writing this book as an emotional and intellectual journey,” says Shabnam. “I wanted to understand the essence of Kashmir, including stories that get overlooked and the culture that really makes our land so rich and resilient.”
In attempting to write this first book, Shabnam Manzoor tries to intervene with her participation in the literature and historical debates on Kashmir while letting readers live its past and present through her pages. ( TRK NEWS)
