Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat on Sunday evening reached Sanyal, Hiranagar in Kathua district to personally monitor the ongoing anti-terrorist operation.Reports said that DGP Nalin Prabhat has reached the encounter site in person to monitor and oversee the anti-terrorist operation.Earlier, a 7-year-old girl from Bihar sustained minor injuries during the gunfight, however she was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua for treatment where her condition is said to be stable.
Reports said that 4-5 heavily armed terrorists are believed to be trapped inside the cordon. The security forces have tightened the cordon layers around the area, while senior security officials continue to assess the ground situation.
In wake of the encounter, neighbouring districts in Punjab were placed on high alert, with additional security forces deployed to prevent any potential escape or infiltration, reports said.
It also said that the ongoing anti-terrorist operation was halted due to low visibility, with plans to resume at first light tomorrow.
Authorities have intensified surveillance and placed strict checkpoints in the surrounding areas, reports added. GK
