Pursuant to the certain issues & events in the Sub Division Lolab, ,a meeting was convened in the Office Chamber of Sub Divisional Magistrate Lolab Shri Javed Naseem Masoodi (JKAS) , the meeting was attended by Tehsildar Sogam/Lalpora , Dy.SP Lolab,Naib Tehsildar Lalpora, Naib Tehsildar
Sogam and the public representatives including Chairman & Member Auqaf committee Jamia Masjid Sogam and Jamia Masjid Lalpora.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Lolab Sogam greeted all attending the meeting.
The officials and public representatives highlighted the issue that has transpired yesterday in Gundi-Macher Lolab, wherein a lady was stabbed by a mendicant while seeking alms, besides the frequent electric shut down and Market prices a were also deliberated upon . During the meeting it came to fore that on the account of holy
month of Ramadhan a large number of mendicants and pan handlers are seen seeking alms in the territorial jurisdiction of Sub Division Lolab and representatives from religious institutions across valley and other states come to collect the contribution and donation for these institutions. Given a thought to the circumstances and needs
of the people who actually depend on the alms they use to collect, the officials and the representatives put forth their suggestions in order to curb the mishaps on the account of begging.
Consequent to thread bare deliberations over the subject following directions were passed .
Concerned Auqaaf and Mohalla committees shall keep a check on the strangers and verify
their genuineness who visit their respective mohallas for raising the alms during Holy month
Of Ramadhan.
Auqaaf /Concerned Masjid Committees shall verify and ascertain the credentials of any
person coming for collecting donations for religious institutions.
The concerned Auqaaf committees shall foster awareness among common masses
regarding the issue and shall collectively discourage the beggary and Panhandling in the
Sub-Division.
