Indian cricketer KL Rahul has set his sights on a return to the national T20 side after a standout IPL 2025 season, where he scored 539 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of nearly 150.

Rahul, who last featured in a T20I in November 2022, said the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup is firmly on his mind. “I want to get back in the T20 team and the World Cup is in my mind,” Rahul told Sky Sports during an interview with Nasser Hussain.

The Delhi Capitals batter credited his renewed form to a conscious effort to adapt to modern white-ball cricket, which demands aggressive intent and boundary-hitting. Once criticized for his conservative batting style, Rahul acknowledged the need to evolve.

“The game is changing, and I needed to catch up,” he said.

Rahul also mentioned that feedback from experts like Kevin Pietersen, who once said watching him bat was like “watching paint dry,” helped him reflect and improve. He worked closely with coaches such as Abhishek Nayar to transform his mindset and approach.

Although Delhi Capitals didn’t make it to the playoffs, Rahul emerged as their top run-scorer and is now focused on the upcoming Test series in England, with hopes of making the T20 World Cup squad next year.
