Kupwara : In a crackdown against drug peddling, Kupwara Police have arrested two individuals for possession of charas like substance at Lalpora. The arrests were made during a naka checking conducted by the Lalpora Police Station at Dardpora crossing.
During the naka, two individuals approaching from Diver towards Lalpora attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence. However, the naka party acted swiftly and apprehended them. A personal search of the suspects led to the recovery of approximately 60 grams of a charas-like substance.
The accused have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Sheikh,S/O Gh. Hassan Sheikh, resident of Batpora Magam Hadwara andTahir Ahmad Sheikh S/O Gh. Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Tujer Sharief Sopore.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 67/2024 U/S 8/20-29 NDPS Act at Police Station Lalpora, and further investigation is underway.
