Kupwara Police Cracks Two Major Drug Cases, Seizes Charas and Arrests Three Accused

In a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, Kupwara Police successfully intercepted two separate cases involving the possession of illegal narcotic substances, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of charas. Both cases reflect the firm commitment of Kupwara Police to eradicate the drug menace in the region.

Case 1: Interception at Batpora Hyhama

Earlier today, a random Naka was established at Batpora Hyhama by a team of police .During routine checks, the team intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK09A/2061. Upon searching the vehicle’s occupants, Akhtar Ali Khan and Shariq Ahmad Ganie charas-like substance was recovered from their possession.

A criminal case, FIR No. 240/2024 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act 1985, has been registered, and the individuals were taken into custody for further investigation.

Case 2: Recovery at Bumhama Kupwara
In another successful operation, Kupwara Police, acting on information provided by reliable sources apprehended Mushtaq Ahmad Maghal resident of kupwara for the illegal possession of charas and same was recovered from the accused during the operation .

Following the recovery, a case, FIR No. 238/2024 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act 1985, was registered, and the accused was arrested. All necessary legal procedures, including the preparation of the arrest memo, were completed, and the investigation is underway .

These swift and successful operations demonstrate the resolve of Kupwara Police to root out drug-related crimes in the region. The Superintendent of Police, Kupwara, Mr. Jeelani, commended the officers for their dedication and urged the public to cooperate in reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
