During the second day of his visit to Kupwara, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha engaged with diverse public delegations. These groups included PRI members, residents from border villages, representatives from the Traders Federation, members of Pahadi, Gujjar Bakerwal, and minority communities, farmers, transporters, media professionals, and members of the Bar Association. They raised various development-related issues and concerns of public significance with the Lt Governor.
Lt Governor Sinha assured the delegations that their genuine problems and grievances would be promptly addressed within a specific timeframe.
In his interaction with the media, the Lt Governor emphasized that people-centric policies have revitalized overall development in the district, fostering a peaceful environment for the common man. He highlighted the success of well-planned initiatives, resulting in a notable rise in tourist footfall. Lt Governor Sinha also noted the extensive efforts in providing electricity to remote areas and the accelerated progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He expressed optimism about achieving the goal of complete coverage under ‘Nal Se Jal’ for all villages, panchayats, and households in the district by December 31 this year, with 70 percent of the work already accomplished.
Addressing the issue of rail connectivity to Kupwara, the Lt Governor confirmed that the railway ministry has approved a survey for the rail line in the district. Upon completion of the survey and the submission of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), he anticipates the commencement of work on the rail link, thereby integrating Kupwara into the railway network.
Additionally, Lt Governor Sinha inaugurated a winter plantation drive as part of the Green J&K campaign. A total of 8.5 lakh saplings will be planted during this drive in the district.
Earlier, the Lt Governor visited the Mata Kheer Bhawani Asthapan Tikkar Kupwara, where he prayed for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all. He spent the night in Kupwara, engaging with several public delegations and officials to evaluate the development requirements of the district. (TRK News)
